On March 16, 1966, at 704 E. Broadway, in Anaheim, California, Paul Van Doren and three partners opened up their first store. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in that it manufactured shoes and sold them directly to the public. On that first morning, 12 customers purchased Vans deck shoes, which are now known as Authentic. The shoes which were made that day were ready for pick-up in the afternoon.
Since that day, Vans trainers and Vans footwear has been developed into an exclusive brand for skaters and technical trainers.
Vans trainers has been making vans footwear for skate boarding for over 40 years, vans trainers have 2 ranges in there products, the classics range, a range of trainers concentrating on plimsole style trainers with vulcanized soles and made of canvas, and the more skate orientated more technical trainers.
Vans trainers has a pro skate team with some of the best skaters around, such as Dustin dollin tony trujillio, john cardiel, and Geoff Rowley.
Geoffrey Rowley (born June 6, 1976, in Liverpool, England is a professional skateboarder ,Rowley began skating at the age of 13, and was first sponsored by Flip Skateboards (when it was based in the United Kingdom under the name Deathbox before the move to California) and is an original team member. and had had a been sponsored by vans since 1995.
Vans footwear has a premium vault range bringing some high end designs and materials to the table, and keeping it to a limited distribution making them very sought after.
